The city has developed a publication to update residents on the Mayor’s aggressive economic development efforts. The administration is focused on not only attracting and retaining business in the city, but also resolutions for poverty, housing and workforce issues in Richmond.

The Mayor layed out his economic plan to the public Thursday. He says his administration wants to increase more spending with minority-owned firms and offer minorities wanting to start their own business more loan programs and incentives.

Jones also pitched his proposal to expand the city’s tax-relief program for residents who are elderly and disabled. Property owners with a maximum income of $50,000 and net worth of $200,000 are eligible.

Mayor Jones says an anti-poverty group he created has some ideas like giving priority to contractors whoe provide higher living wages to employees and providing on site and subsidized child car to employees with young children.
Jones says, “As we go through this budgeting process it’s going to be a determining factor in how we spend our money.”
